Common mistakes when you are trying to hunt a Coyote
1. Choose the wrong area
Many hunters, especially rookies tend to hunt near roads or on easy access, public lands. Despite of being convenient, these areas tend to be overcrowded and have the higher hunting pressure over Coyotes, decreasing success rates;
moreover, Coyotes have learned to avoid such areas since there are more chances of contact with humans.
Thus, if you wish to increase your odds, it will be necessary to walk a little deeper into the bushes.
2. Noisy approach
Another common mistake is to choose a good area which will be ruined because a noisy approach.
Coyotes are very mistrusted and will stay away of anything suspicious or out of place on their territory. If you arrive to a remote area with a powerful truck provided with a noisy engine; slapping doors and making a lot of noise; probably Coyotes will be a mile away even before you set up your hunting spot.
How to field dress a wild turkey
Once all the feathers have been pulled, cut the wings at the first joint as well the
feet at the lowest joint; probably you will have to bend the feet for an easier localization of the joint.
After removing wings and feet it's time to cut the tail, just above the gland. Finally it's time to cut the head, do it as near to the head base as possible since the neck is plenty of good meat, especially for stew.
Be sure to count with a sharp, strong knife for this job because you will need to cut not only meat but also bones and cartilages. Be extremely careful during this part of the process to avoid injuries.
Now the first part of the field dressing is complete and it's time to remove the inner content.

Keep your dog warm while hunting
1- Prefer big dogs over small ones.
If possible, go out hunting with big dogs during winter season. Smaller dogs have more problems to regulate their temperature, so big breeds are better to face extreme low temperatures.
2- Don't go out with dogs too young or too old.
Youngest and older dogs don't suit extreme low temperatures due to their physiology; thus on extremely cold weather conditions, leave these dogs at home and go out only with mature hounds. There will be warmer days ahead for younger dogs gain experience.
3- Fat is the key
Fat is a natural insulation layer for dogs, so prepare in advance your dogs for the winter season feeding them with high protein, high fat diet. The thicker their fat layer, the better to protect them of low temperatures. In addition they will be stronger and ready to face whatever mother nature throws them.
